To actively seek out, evaluate and appraise new business opportunities to secure the delivery of a variety of high quality housing schemes of mixed tenure in Maidstone to meet strategic housing and commercial objectives of the council. This will include
supporting the delivery of the Council’s own affordable homes programme.
Identify new opportunities for development that will deliver a high quality housing programme of mixed tenure (including affordable housing) for the Council.
Support the delivery of the Council’s Affordable Housing Programme with the HCA maximising investment in the borough by submitting, evaluating and supporting bids and using Council resources as effectively as possible to lever in additional investment.
Key contact to liaise with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) in respect of grant funding submissions, use of the HCA IMS system to progress projects.
Ensure that all action taken is in accordance with the HCA’s Capital Funding Guide, the Design and Quality Standards and the Council’s own internal policies and procedures.
To initiate, create and develop on behalf of the Council new housing development processes/guides and joint affordable/private housing projects in conjunction with development partners or other social housing providers as appropriate.
Raise the Council’s profile in the sector by developing strategic relationships with other developers, land owners, consultants, contractors, planners and agents to maximise development opportunities.
To maintain strong working relationships with key funding partners such as DCLG, LGA, the HCA and RP’s.
To carry out feasibility and financial viability assessments of proposed schemes, evaluate options and recommend appropriate course of action.
Brief, help to procure and manage various external consultants such as architects, contractors, surveyors and employers agents.
To assist the Housing and Enabling Manager with management of the Council’s Housing Capital (new-build) Programme and all relevant funding streams ensuring that money is spent in a timely and efficient manner to support local priorities and in line with any restrictions associated with.
