Our local authority client are currently seeking an Architectural Technician to join their team in Dorcester for initially a 3 month contract with possible extension.
The Buildings and Construction team delivers design and construction services to mainly internal but also external clients to ensure their property assets meet their needs throughout their lifecycle. Operating as an integrated multi-professional design and maintenance team it consists of Project Managers, Architects, Landscape Architects, Mechanical/Electrical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Cost Consultants, Surveyors, Technologists and Technicians.
Based in Dorchester town centre we are a friendly team delivering mainly educational buildings for the Council.
The perfect candidates should have exceptional technical and presentation skills being able to communicate their designs and details in a variety of media. We are looking for ‘Team Players’ with excellent communication skills, as the ideal candidates will be tasked with juggling a variety of project related work.
A good working knowledge of AutoCAD and strong IT skills are essential.
The architectural team operate as a professional practice following business-like principles and it is responsible for the output of projects procured either externally or for those carried out by the in-house team.
As Architectural Technician you will provide professional technical assistance in the delivery of small, medium sized and major new build, extensions and refurbishment projects, under
the guidance of more senior staff, with a clear focus on successful outcomes for the customer.
• The post-holder will have a sound technical knowledge with responsibility for architectural project production output across the capital programme, achieving “best practice” and
providing advice as appropriate on all matters relating to architectural design, contributing to developing standardisation, sustainability and other innovative initiatives to achieve best
value in the design and procurement of buildings.
• Acting as Architectural Technician, take responsibility for providing technical support to all new-build or refurbishment projects, including feasibility studies, small, medium sized and
major projects, as directed, maintaining a high professional standard throughout all project work stages, including preparation of drawings, specifications and tender information. Assist
with ensuring that projects meet client directorate expectations, meeting time, cost and quality criteria, resulting in buildings that are efficient, well-designed and fit for purpose,
complying with all relevant legislation, best practice, Codes of Practice, Building Regulations, H&S requirements including industry developments, and the sustainability agenda.
• The architectural team will operate as a professional practice following business-like principles supported entirely by fees from capital. Operating a mixed economy, the architectural team will be responsible for the output of projects procured either externally or for those carried out by the in-house team.
