Senior Architect | Dorcester | 3 months+ | £Neg

Our local authority client are currently seeking a Senior Architect to join their team in Dorcester for initially a 3 month contract with possible extension.

As Senior Architect/Project Manager, you will fulfil the role of project architect (including Lead Consultant) in the delivery of major new build, extensions and refurbishment projects
with a clear focus on successful outcomes for the customer. You will take on the role of Project Manager for the smaller less complex projects. Occasionally you will support the Lead Architect in coaching and mentoring students and graduates as we seek to develop our own talent base within the organisation.

• The post-holder will have a specialised knowledge with responsibility for architectural project design and production output across the capital programme, ensuring compliance with Contract Procedure Rules, EU Legislation, establishing “best practice” and providing expert and impartial advice to clients, council officers, members as appropriate on all matters relating to architecture, contributing to developing standardisation, sustainability and other innovative initiatives to achieve best value in the architectural design and procurement of buildings.
• The architectural team will operate as a professional practice following business-like principles supported entirely by fees from capital. Operating a mixed economy, the architectural team will be responsible for the output of projects procured either externally or for those carried out by the in-house team.
• Acting as Project Architect, Lead Consultant and occasionally, Project Manager, take responsibility for design/new-build or refurbishment projects, including feasibility studies, small medium and large complex projects, as directed, maintaining a high professional standard throughout all project work stages, including preparation of designs, drawings, specifications, tender documentation, acting as Contract Administrator fulfilling all contractual duties on behalf of the clients, ensuring adequate site supervision, provision of all required documentation and certification. Ensure that projects meet client directorate expectations, meeting time, cost and quality criteria, resulting in buildings that are efficient, well-designed and fit for purpose, complying with all relevant legislation, best practice, Codes of Practice, Building Regulations, H&S requirements including industry developments, and the sustainability agenda.
• The professional qualification of Registered Architect (ARB), (Chartered status RIBA optional) is required together with significant experience in a similar role.
