My client, a leading medium-sized law firm, are looking to appoint a Solicitor to join their team in Thetford.

Main Objective:
To work within the Clinical Negligence team and assist in the delivery of legal services to our clients.

Skills & Attributes:
- Solicitor / FILEX (or equivalent) ideally 4 years PQE (or equivalent)
- Legal experience clinical negligence is essential
- Enthusiastic and dedicated towards business development
- Ability to carry out legal research
- Knowledge of law and legal principles relevant to the work conducted by the team
- Ability to carry out legal research
- Good planning and prioritisation, highly organised
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Duties Include:
To assist in the following areas:
- Manage Case Load – initially under the supervision of Fee Earners
- Conduct meetings and interviews with clients
- Assess legal issues and advise accordingly
- Advise on costs (including the preparation of Letters of Engagement)
- Conduct legal research
- Draft documents and letters, and prepare and submit searches
- Meet deadlines (utilisation of electronic diary system)
- Complete time sheets
- Maintain files
- Deal with financial aspects
- Adhere to the Firm’s administrative system and procedures
- Participate in team meetings
- Attend internal and external courses as required
- Keep up to date with law and practice
- If required, assist Partners within the Clinical Negligence Team based in other offices
- Attend internal and external courses as required
- To fulfil budgeted level of matter time and fees
- To assist in the development of long term client relationships
- To maintain effective file management (in order to meet the firm’s, money laundering and SRA requirements)
- Attend business development activities on behalf of the Clinical
- Negligence Team (as required), on behalf of the firm
- To promote the firm with all external clients
- To ensure all files are opened in the correct manner and take responsibility for ensuring all regulatory obligations are completed, included but not limited to, AML and due diligence requirements
- Aware of AML and report to the risk department any concerns
- To carry out any reasonable duties as may be directed by the Partners or the management of the firm
- To complete the annual risk refresher training.
